So, here goes with an excerpt teaser from MOTHER OF PEARL, Abingdon Press, 2012:

Steve seems lost in his own thoughts. For a moment, I consider asking if he thinks the seatbelt might have released upon impact, but change my mind when I notice my husband’s tear-filled eyes and quivering chin. “You okay?” I ask.

“Remember that time right after I adopted her, when she was little and I had to swat her because she wouldn’t stop stabbing things in the electrical outlet?”

I nod. “I remember.”

He gazes out the window, a vague look painted on his face. “I remember too.”
