Good Morning, Reading Friends!

Yup! You read the subject line correctly. Allen and I have become Ethel and Norman Thayer from ON GOLDEN POND!

Let me explain!

Allen retired in mid-June and we had multiple celebrations, including an amazing family dinner with our kids. But that wasn’t enough. No, sir! After all those years, I wanted to do something BIG…something he would really enjoy and that would help him to transition to this new phase.

So, I rented a house in the mountains of Colorado for the summer months. Allen and I are enjoying a bungalow cabin on a lake. We wake to the smell of pines and the sounds of birds. We take morning walks and talk about the years we’ve shared and what is next for us. We get on our electric bikes and explore mountain trails (found a waterfall yesterday). We fish in our boat–well, I read while Allen fishes. We sit on the deck and take in the way the wind blows the aspen tree leaves. And we grill steaks and eat like there’s no tomorrow. I know…I’ll pay for that later. Hopefully the exercise will counteract those calories.

But, never fear….I am still working and writing. Last month, I met with some author friends in Nashville and we devised new ways to interact with our readers. Stay tuned….some exciting new things are on the horizon. I will be announcing them soon. Believe me, you won’t want to miss out!
