Early in our dating relationship, a spunky redhead set her eyes on my new boyfriend. Despite assurances from Allen that he only had eyes for me, that green monster called jealousy still bit . . . hard.
I won’t go into how I wrestled that monster to the ground (my jealousy, not the redhead), but somehow I held onto my man and my dignity. So, nearly thirty-five years after we married, imagine how surprised I was to come home to find a female in Allen’s lap!
This is Ava–our 2.7 pound Yorkshire Terrier.
Guess it’s easy to see how she captured his heart–and why this time I chose to look the other way!
Do you have a favorite pet who has taken hold of your heart-strings?
Tell me about it in the comments. (And don’t forget to send photos!)

Oh, this makes me miss my Sugar. She was the sweetest little blond cocker spaniel you could ever hope to meet.
Hi Kellie,
Cute post, you’re a hoot! If I had a pet, you can be sure I’d send you a picture of it, but my husband is the only pet allow in my home.

Oh, Kellie, I forgot to mention, I had to house break my my pet too. LOL
What a cute post!
My pup is spoiled rotten. We threaten to call him snarly charlie or sassie lassie, but he’s got us wrapped around his paws. Not sure how to send a picture here.
She is adorable. I always wanted a lapdog! My Lab thinks he is one and my beagle would like to be, but she can’t jump up on the furniture anymore. You need to buy a puppy purse for Ava and bring her to crit group!
She’s just too cute for words!! We’ve always had big ole Labs, but maybe one day I’ll have a little lap dog. 🙂
